The RSPCA is a defunct and heinous authoritarian establishment that should no longer exist in Britain. Run by joyless bureaucrats who treat humans with about as much respect as dish-rags, with no obvious benefit to the millions of pets in this country, it exploits the powers granted to it by the state and the contradictory, sloppily worded Animal Welfare Act 2006 to terrorise innocent animal-lovers across the UK. Most of the public don’t know how powerful a lobby group and propaganda machine the RSPCA actually is. It has successfully sewn up all the major bodies which play a part in implementing the AWA (not just the police and the media, but the general public and even law courts too), and uses them to hound people for their own financial gain.
Yes it is cheaper to prosecute than advertise. And since the RSPCA have the power to prosecute, they have been milking this power for all its worth – after all every court case brings publicity and therefore, donations. The budget is almost entirely funded by donations – in excess of £100 million a year. Staffs at the RSPCA are paid handsomely, and get free housing loans. The UK’s ‘Director-General” has an annual salary of £90,000. They recently built a new Head Quarters costing ten million pounds and other newly built local facilities now house more staff and fewer animals. Then there is the story of the RSPCA facility at Swansea. After ten years of fund-raising they felt ready to build a new and better centre. It now has excellent, spacious administrative offices, but room to keep just 27 dogs. They had previously been able to house 140. It’s good to know that the donations are being spent usefully. Presumably the dogs that can no longer be housed will put down immediately, on the grounds of their age, or some asserted (but unproven) defect.
A quick look at the facts will tell you everything you need to know. The RSPCA kills over half of the cats and dogs it comes into contact with. The AWA 2006 could see you incarcerated for letting your dog eat a piece of chocolate. The RSPCA regularly and illegally break into people’s houses and seize their pets for no good reason. They seem to have three ways of dealing with complaints about this by the way. One is destroying the evidence, such as by cremating the bodies, so the defendant can in no way prove that their pet was not suffering from injuries or disease at the time of their seizure. The second is by keeping the animal in a so-called ‘safe haven’ of solitary confinement so that the defendant cannot even access the animal in order for their vet or animal doctor to run an independent assessment of the animal prior to any trial proceedings. And let’s not forget their penchant of hiring unprofessional vets of their own, or vets that are willing to lie in court and produce one-sided arguments in order to gain favour with the RSPCA. Council members who question the RSPCA are silenced and dismissed. And finally, the very fact that the RSPCA equates ‘saving’ an animal with ‘putting it down’ should be enough to make our hairs stand on end. Just try typing ‘RPSCA victims’ into Google and see what you come up with.
Such case studies are growing in huge numbers every year – there is even a website called ‘Victims of the RSPCA’ where innocent pet lovers across the UK describe their shameful treatment at the hands of this all too forceful and frankly unnecessary authoritarian charity, such as the pensioner couple who were told their beloved cat was suffering from starvation, liver failure and blindness, and it would have to be put down. In fact it was only suffering from fleas. Had they let their cat go with the RSPCA inspector she would certainly have been murdered. Or the story of a friend who had his beloved puppies and their mother forcibly taken away from him at eight days old simply for having their tails docked (a process known to cause little to no pain or discomfort if done within a few days of birth). The puppies were left in appalling cramped conditions, developed debilitating diseases which stunted them while the owner was not only charged thousands of pounds in kennelling costs but also had his story splashed across the pages of his local paper – along with a colour photograph of his house – which was subsequently vandalised and continues to be targeted by such attacks every year. It’s just publicity for the RSPCA who see their donations increase every time they run a smear against an innocent pet-owner. Or how about the case of a dog shelter in Ghent, Wales which the RSPCA deemed ‘overcrowded’ despite the hours of care afforded to every dog from dedicated and genuine animal-loving workers. Under strict orders never to repeat the the happenings, the workers were forced to slaughter over 70 dogs at the shelter, to comply with the RSPCA rules and regulations and many suffered from nervous breakdowns as a result. This story and countless others paint a very different picture of the RSPCA indeed – but even so their slick PR machine is as well oiled as it ever was and the public still remain woefully unaware that their primary concern has become how to keep the money flowing. Why do we keep letting them get away with this?
Maybe it is their PR machine and how good it is as bringing them out shining in every case. As recently as last year the RSPCA launched a campaign to stop children in schools from having classroom pets – a cornerstone of learning how to care for animals and take responsibility for them. In an increasingly bureaucratic age where even our children’s educations are being cross-examined, mutilated, revised and tested by our over-compensating government, a classroom pet can bring some much needed respite into a class and give teachers and pupils a rare opportunity to bond. Not anymore, thanks to the RSPCA who ‘worry’ that the bright lights and noisy conditions may distress the animals – while of course keeping them in equally noisy, cramped cages in their “shelters” wouldn’t. Added to this their declaration that pet shops should not be allowed to sell pets as many pet-shop owners are “unaware as to how to care for the animals”, and what you have is a growing and frightening monopoly over animal ‘welfare’ and even pet ownership. And why should we doubt that this is what the RSPCA has had in mind all along? If they can wield their power over the smallest shelters in local areas, they can almost certainly do the same to pet shops and suddenly, nobody will be able to purchase a pet without first being vetted stringently by the RSPCA. And no matter how much “Animal Rights Activists” will bleat that this is a good idea – I certainly wouldn’t want to see my wish to own a pet get dissected and scrutinised by a charity that is as ruthless as it is incompetent. As an aside, I want to add that I truly despair of you so-called animal rights activists. Don’t you think it’s time that we began trusting each other in this country? Not every man woman or child that wants to own a dog has a view to abusing it you know. The result of 12 years of this right-curbing government is a people that sanctimoniously believe they have a right to vet every potential animal owner. It’s wrong. I abhor a monopoly of any kind and I can warn you now that a monopoly of this kind will make it increasingly difficult to own a pet, increasingly impossible to look after it with your privacy intact, and almost guarantee that the welfare of animals be side-stepped as the ‘charity’ bloats and makes more and more money for itself.
The deeper one digs, the more disturbing the facts are that come out – council members sacked for daring to question their policies, animals being forcibly taken away and put down without the consent of their owners, and those same owners then being charged for kennelling costs. The organisation is rotten, corrupt to the core, and there is sparse evidence to suggest that they have improved the welfare of animals in this country. Putting animals down does not equate with ‘saving’ them and I resent their twisted logic on this matter. Given a choice between living on the street and being killed ‘humanely’ I know which one I’d pick. Why shouldn’t our pets, and indeed their loving and caring owners be given the same choice?

The OIE standard for the control of stray dog populations emphasises the implementation of controls as appropriate to the national context and local circumstances . Several measures should be employed together, including euthanasia as appropriate. If euthanasia is used, it should be done humanely and in combination with other measures to achieve effective long term control of stray dog populations.
The standard include a list of methods of euthanasia for use with stray dogs without recommending any specific method over the others. The use of the captive bolt is foreshadowed and the animal welfare implications are listed, as well as important considerations relating to operator security.

Below is the type of rspca supporter that says it all…..
Comment taken from the above weblink
My understanding is that the dogs were in distress, had been abandoned and were aggressive.
I also understand that they were put down on the guidance of a vet.
Sometimes these things happen….the RSPCA does not live in a hairy-fairy-world and, at times, serious decisions have to be made.
Sometimes killing an animal is more humane than letting it suffer, or being a danger to people. Phred, With me 3 cats + dog
On the guidence of a vet??? Those dogs never saw a vet because the RSPCA think they are qualified to Assess, Diagnose and Kill, without recourse to ANY medical training whatsoever!!
As for being abandoned, well, their owner died so I don't think he had much choice in the matter.
There are some idiots posting on there. They can't see the wood for the trees.
I have just posted but it probably won't stay up.
There was no vet present or no vet advice given when they slaughtered those poor dogs
I have just watched the RSPCA rescue on BBC this morning. I would suggest you watch it on the Iplayer falcility.
It is the rescue of two abandoned Welsh Mountain ponies in the east of the country.and had been abondoned for '3 years'. I suggest you study the two ponies carefully as they load then to their condition.
At the ILPH centre, there is concern shown over the stallions weight ???, by this time he had dropped weight and the shine had gone off his coat.
The mare was given various tests and X Rays for Laminitus the Xrays should her pedal bones had not rotated, and the first trimming had put them back into a much better position.
The outside of the stable doors showed signs of previous distressed horses , and this should have been the quarentine block, dirty wall and preused bedding.
The final scene was of the infamous Ted Barns stood by the turn out pappock and the stallion, looking in a sad neglected state with a sikn allergy round his eyes, his main cut off with a pair of sissors, and looking very thin for a Welsh Mountain, his coat was dull and his hip bones sticking out. It was explained this was 12 months later and that the mare had been put down.
I wonder if someone could offer to take it off the iplayer so that it could be viewed easily. I am not that much of a wizz kid with this kind of thing. and put it up on here Thank you
Jumping on the Olympic Bandwagon now. This was juts mailed by a friend:
'Will this be a "Cage Free" Olympics? If the Olympics want "free range food", then why are they using "Freedom Food", which (despite its misleading name) is no guarantee of free-range? The RSPCA's big food campaign at the moment is on so-called "cage free eggs", which are essentially no better than battery hens. Another blood-stained gravy train begins, I fear for the RSPCA? Will RSPCA inspectors be "on duty" at the Olympics, at the public expense? Perhaps chekcing that none of the athletes from Ghana have trained while feeding on rat meat?'

They have done all they can to hide the fact that they often kill dogs with captive bolts. The 10 GSD's was not an isolated case
'Hi, a reply finally to my question asked in august, they have the reply dated 13/11 but I only got notification of it today. 65 dogs killed by captive bolt .'
Thank you for your enquiry.
Please accept our apologies for the delay in response; this is due to an exceptionally high number of enquiries received over recent months and it is taking some time to reply to them all.
Not all the figures you have requested are available and we would normally require greater background and context so that we can understand the purposes for which the statistics will be used. However, we hope you find the following information helpful.
On average the Society rehomes over 60,000 animals every year. It has been necessary for our inspectorate to euthanase 576 dogs so far this year, 65 by captive bolt. The use of the captive bolt is the quickest and kindest approach under certain circumstances, but the Society recognises that it may be perceived as a controversial method of euthanasia for companion animals.
Sadly, the RSPCA is often seen as the charity of last resort and so that an animal's welfare is not compromised further, euthanasia is often the kindest option. No one working for the Society finds this aspect of their role at all easy. Until there is greater recognition of the issues surrounding indiscriminate breeding and irresponsible pet ownership it is likely to remain an aspect of our work.
We have new campaigns and education programmes planned for 2010 that will highlight and address these fundamental concerns.
Other animal welfare charities claim they do not put animals to sleep but say they are unable to assist owners in many more challenging circumstances. The RSPCA does not believe this is an acceptable response as further animal suffering is often the result.
Thank you again for contacting the Society, and we hope the above information has been of interest.
Kind regards

To quote the gestapo "The use of the captive bolt is the quickest and kindest approach under certain circumstances"
Perhaps the quickest for inhumane rspca employees but can anyone tell of any Veterinarians that have used a captive bolt gun and pithing to kindly put someones` pet dog to sleep ?.
But it must be us that are at fault ? For every media outlet and MP etc etc I have sent the links pertaining to the rspca`s use of captive bolt guns not one has even aknowleged receipt of my emails.
No, I've had no acknowledgements either, nor has anyone I know. The attitude seems to be ''Ignore them and they'll go away'' WRONG!!
I don't think a Vet would dare kill a pet dog with a CBG, pretty sure he'd be struck off. But the rspca are above all laws aren't they? So they think!
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/6475301/Po...
Read the bottom line of this article.
I read recently that Ann Widecombe was almost brought to tears whilst watching some pantomime with a toy donkey in the story yet she fails to respond to the factual links sent to her about her beloved rspca. And the media and MP`s are all basically the same " hypocrits " that are quick to blow up the rspca`s hype yet hide anything negative. They have all been brainwashed that without the rspca animal welfare would collapse so they protect them.
To try to tackle the problem regarding stray dogs, anyone who owns a dog or is thinking about owning one is invited to the council shop in High Street, Kettering, on December 16, from 9.30am, where they will be given advice about breeds, techniques and what it takes to be a good owner. Kettering Council environmental wardens, along with colleagues from the RSPCA , will be on hand to answer any questions. Hopefully some can attend or contact the Kettering Evening Telegraph to ask the rspca relevant questions about their excessive use of captive bolt guns and advice on pithing..
To see just how fully complicit the BBC is in maintaining the RSPCA’s benign and kindly image, one only had to watch yesterday morning’s, i.e. Thursday, 10th December’s episode of ‘Animal 24/7’ on BBC 1. Even though the letters RSPCA didn't appear in its title, the programme exclusively featured reports of its Inspectors' compassionate work in helping owners rehabilitating their elderly or infirm pets by taking them to vets, giving advice and then returning them in better health, etc. The very favourable light in which the Inspectors were portrayed was obviously designed to warm the cockles of the viewers’ hearts at Christmas time – except that it was a travesty of the real truth for so many hapless and victimised pet-owners who’ve had their animals ruthlessly seized and executed and also then been prosecuted for no good reason. Clearly, the truth is simply not on the BBC’s agenda. Do they have RSPCA sympathisers or paid acolytes on their board? It’s a disgrace for our only public TV broadcaster to act in this way!
I remarked to someone only yesterday that all the bullying and harsh attitudes of the last series have gone, and this series is entirely to give the Feelgood Factor and get more money in. On Tuesday there was only the briefest mention of prosecution against someone, quickly glossed over. For an organization that sees Leukemia in every cat and skin conditions in every dog seemingly incurable, they went to extraordinary lengths (for them) to rehabilitate Barney the Springer Spaniel, and to allow a lady to keep her 16 cats.
The BBC are in no way showing the full story here, it's totally biased towards the Stasi RSPCA!!
We know that the media protect the RSPCA. Their head of PR Henry McCaulay is in a relationship with some guy working for the BBC – allegedly.
It has just been pointed out to me that in yesterdays (Thursday) episode of Animals 24/7, Number 9, Cats in a derelict house, that the cat rescued from the house and the cat they claimed to have made a full recovery were two different cats! The first one had a white blaze on its face and white legs. The second had a black face and only had white on it's front feet, not it's legs. Check iplayer and see for yourselves. If someone has a way of saving it, we need to contact the BBC and RSPCA and accuse them of fraud and misrepresentation. The only reason to have done it was to gain more money from sympathetic viewers.

Typical rspca
Dear Kettering Borough Council,
I understand from reading the Evening Telegraph that the Borough Council is holding a surgery on December 16th regarding responsible dog ownership and addressing the serious issue of stray dogs.
I further understand that the rspca will be present to answer questions and give their advice in regard to dog ownership.
This I can assume will give the ideal opportunity to raise certain serious issues in public with the rspca pertaining to their use of captive boltguns and pithing to kill not only 10 German Shepherd dogs but the 65 pet dogs they have admitted to killing with their captive boltguns.
The cold facts are that the RSPCA figures for 2008 show that they destroyed 8313 dogs and 12,329 cats .
This is what could happen to your pet… and thankfully the Conservative blog is covering peoples` genuine concerns.

The rspca are going against ALL their previous policies regarding never rehoming pets over the Christmas period.
http://www.google.com/url?sa=X&q=http://www.t...
The link isn't working, but I know Dogs Trust won't re-home between 19th Dec and 2nd Jan, and the Blue Cross aren't re-homing from today 13th Dec to 2nd Jan, although you can still visit and choose a cat or dog.
Animals that have been through rescues etc are confused and frightened enough at any time without going into homes full of people, Christmas trees, booze, noise and confusion. What are the RSPCA thinking of? How many of these poor animals will be dumped afterwards or left to fend for themselves?
Hi Victoria,
Its` probably not working because I posted on the web page ?
OK, Thanks
I eat my words the link is working again including my post
I raised the issue of the rspca murdering dogs by using captive bolts and Pithing with Kettering Council. They responded as follows but not a mention of the link I posted to them or the actions of the rspca ?
"Dogs that are not returned to their owners are signed over by the Council following seven days from the date of seizure to a rehoming facility. I can state that our kennels see euthanasia as an absolute last resort, however, have to be mindful of the cost of continuing to kennel and care for abandoned pets and the likelihood of rehoming being successful".
RSPCA and WSPA dare to put their name to something saying Cesar is cruel – yet they can shoot 65 dogs this year alone with a captive bolt.

The RSPCA are hypocrits in daring to put their name to something saying Cesar Millan ( Dog wisperer ) is cruel. How can the most recognised animal rights charity in the UK administer the callous and cruel method of using captive bolt guns followed up by a sick method known as pithing to despatch 65 pet dogs already in 2009.
They have placed themselves above the Law and implement any means they feel in both dispensing unwanted animals and enforcing their draconian self adopted laws onto the animal loving Nation.
The cold facts are that the RSPCA figures for 2008 show that they destroyed 8313 dogs and 12,329 cats .This cannot be justified as their finacial status could see more facilities constructed to hold the increasing numbers of abandoned Pets.
The Animal Welfare Act constructed basically from an rspca wish list including a so called " Duty of Care" has failed abysmally but like with the ignorance of a Governing political party they continue unchallenged and above reproach.
People in glasshouses should not throw stones and the rspca in their expensive glass palace are the typical example.
Interestingly, the ignorant PR company haven't replied to our emails!
RSPCA have been on Alan Titchmarsh show asking for help with donations / food as they want to help any many animals over the xmas period They said if you are concerned about any pets contact them.
Can we complain. If they are going to allow the RSPCA to beg for money, they should at least tell the public how it may be spent
I just got this reply. I think we should all write:
Thank you for your email, which has been passed to Channel Television as we deal with the show for transmission.
I'm sorry that you were offended by the item on The Alan Titchmarsh Show. Please, note that at no point RSPCA was allowed "call to action" ( direct appeal to public to donate money). The show features work of a wide range of charities over the course of series, and RSPCA was only one of them.
You may wish to contact the producers of the show regarding appearance on the show to give your point of view or to highlight the work of your charity. They are called Spun Gold and their number is 0870 164 7470 or write to:

my first email to Spun gold….
Dear Editor,
There are many charities working very hard and needing funds and donations to keep going but one that most certainly does not is the rspca.
Perhaps Alan Tichmarsh should have covered many of the true issues pertaining to the rspca before giving them air time to beg for even more money.
Sadly due to the media suppressing a great deal of what actually goes on under the so called name of animal rights sickening episodes such as the rspca killing ten German Shepherd dogs with a captive boltgun followed up by pithing simply gets brushed under the carpet and when we try to raise the issue it never makes the media. So it is very likely that the above issues will be peacefully raised with the rspca at the advisory Council meeting.

Always the same rhetoric about libelous comments even when the facts can be proven. Animal welfare is failing but as cruelty and abandonment esculate the animal charities benefit from increased donations.
The cold facts are that the RSPCA figures for 2008 show that they destroyed 8313 dogs and 12,329 cats .

Just looked up Mark Evans Vet TV presenters website to ask his opinion, now he fronts for the rspca about the use of captive bolt guns.
As follows and no suprise:Mark is unable to respond to animal welfare / RSPCA related matters through this website.
What a cop out!! This seems to be the modus operandi; totally ignore an important issue and the questioners will go away quietly.
Boy are they in for a shock!!
We aim to marshall everyone together in the new year and start making them take notice, the media, the MPs, and the rspca.
The latest gem from the RSPCA:
Thank you for your enquiry.
One of the hardest things anyone has to do at the RSPCA is to put an animal to sleep. However, we all recognise that this is often the kindest thing to do, and that it is a sad but necessary part of our work.
Because of this, some 230 RSPCA inspectors in England and Wales are licensed by the Home Office and the police to carry firearms. This is so that they are able, if needed, to quickly and humanely dispatch animals (mainly wild animals and farm livestock) that are suffering.
An all-too-common example is when a wild animal, such as a deer, has been hit by a car or lorry. These animals are often left injured by the roadside and in severe pain, but with no hope of recovery or rehabilitation, and euthanasia is the only option left. Because the first choice in most cases is the use of a lethal injection, firearms are used very rarely and only where it is safe and necessary.
To put this into context, when our staff sadly have to put an animal to sleep, a firearm is used in less than one per cent of all cases. And in the overwhelming majority of these incidents, they do so to end the suffering of injured or diseased wild animals. The RSPCA is by no means alone – members of the police, some vets, knackermen and people who enjoy shooting for sport are among others who also have firearms licences.
We have a number of strict policies and procedures to make sure that animal welfare and safety is always paramount, and we have an exemplary record over many years. These policies and procedures are reviewed regularly by the RSPCA, and by ACPO (the Association of Chief Police Officers). ACPO most recently approved our processes in November 2009, reporting that they were "very impressed" by our "professional approach".
On occasion there are times when using a firearm is not practical, safe, or the best option for the animal. This means where necessary our staff use a process involving a 'captive bolt gun', which does not require a licence. This procedure is approved for use by RSPCA officers if using a lethal injection is impractical or inappropriate – for example, where an animal is too aggressive or when there is a relevant medical condition.
The RSPCA's experience in this field, which is based on compelling evidence, allows us to state that this method is completely humane when used by trained officers. Again, this method of euthanasia is used in the vast majority of occasions to quickly end the suffering of injured wild animals. We are very aware that putting animals to sleep does upset many people. In the current economic climate, we are facing a rising tide of animal neglect and abandonment, and this often puts our staff and others in danger, and leaves the RSPCA to make hard choices when few others will.
No-one working for the RSPCA finds this aspect of their role at all easy although when it is done, it's done because there is no other option. Euthanasia is always carried out with great reluctance but our highly trained officers, compassionate men and women, do so knowing it is the right thing to do.
In response to your final point, the euthanasia of ten German shepherd dogs in South Wales in June of this year is currently under investigation by the police and the RSPCA is co-operating fully with them. Because of this, it would inappropriate for the RSPCA to comment on any matters relating to this incident at this stage.
Thank you again for contacting the Society.
Kind regards

Typical political whitewash. Keep denying any wrongdoing, keep defending the same stance, and we will all give up and go away. Just because the rspca lie like MPs doesn't mean they ARE MPs, nor will we accept any of their rubbish. MPs can be voted out. We can SHAME the rspca out if we all pull together.
What the RSPCA just conveniently fails to mention is that many of the animals which it executes out of hand are very probably people's beloved pets, which they have persuaded the Courts to confiscate – using malicious lies and accusations. My puppies were taken at the age of 8 days, simply because I'd docked their tails. Along with their mother, they were then encarcerated for the best part of a year whilst 'due legal process' wended its way. Then they were duly taken from me by the Courts and handed to the RSPCA for 're-homing', i.e. meaning almost certain death for them. To try to re-home adult Dobermann dogs in these difficult times has to be very difficult indeed. They are not simply every dog-owner's cup of tea.
Such is the RSPCA's despicable mentality; where there is any doubt, execution is their preferred option for anyone's beloved pet.
The rspca believe themselves to be above any law, and can therefore act with total disregard because they know that NO-ONE can stop them. The media complies with this assumption by remaining silent on the issue.
Until someone in the media, the courts etc grow some decency and values, the situation will not chance.
As far as the rspca are concerned, animals are as disposable as a tin of beans, and it's always the publics fault !!
docking digs is illegal in this country UNLESS they are used for working. Dobermans are NOT classed as a working breed under the docking laws. What you did was against the law and you deserved to have the dogs taken from you. If you had signed them over they would have been able to be rehomed much sooner, because you didn’t they had to be kept in case the courts ordered them to be returned. If you docked these puppies yourself then you were committing an offence, if your vet did it then they were.
Was upset to see that Boris wants to 'dispose' of 'status dogs' (when I was a child ladies with small poodles were carrying them as status in a certain profession) Does he not understand Deed not Breed? What will happen to those in rescue now if they have no hope of being adoptable? Will this spread? We had a man here who was threatening ladies with small dogs that he would let his rottie off and it would rip their dogs to shreds. The lady was concerned if she reported it, the dog b PTS Solicitor explained to us that it would be man in trouble – not dog – for using it as a weapon to intimidate and threaten. Surely when these 'status dogs' are being abused in such a manner, they should be siezed AND REHOMED, and owners charged with threatening with offensive weapon. It was already covered – why round up, persecute and kill? Thought blood on hands was a new labour thing. Shame on you Boris. I have a pair of rescues in at moment – under these rules their forever home will be a table at the vets and a needle in their arm because they are Mastiffs. They have come from horror, we have put in a lot of work. Glad I dont live in London – so sad.
About time the police accepted that Law Enforcement is THEIR JOB – rather than using the avoidance method of policing with a thick layer of buck-passing. RSPCA are supposedly an animal protection charity – emphasis on the word charity. Nexct police will be handing all child abuse reports on to childline and NSPCC for prosecution, and Rape Cris is obviously the best place to refer phone in victims, as they can collate and prosecute. Stupid? Thats the reality. Understand a fireman wont come get your cat out of a tree – unless an inspector calls – not allowed to any more.
We are slowly being abandoned by every form of powers-that-be and discounted as being totally unimportant.
What the government don't seem to grasp, and the rspca don't seem to grasp, is that without public support via votes and money, they could not exist. Its time we reminded them we DO
Hi guys, this article should interest you. It's about soldiers in Iraq abusing animals, using dogs for target practice. Contains graphic videos so please do not watch if you're easily affected – http://theconservativeblog.co.uk/?p=1966
Have you all heard about the latest raid at Rosedene kennels by the police and rspca? Are the rspca a charity, in which case why are they closing other rescues? Or are they an Enforcement Agency, in which case they should be stripped of charitable status. They refused to let staff clean out, feed or water the dogs for twelve hours and the poor dogs were kept in the mess in their cages so that the rspca could photograph ''evidence''. Even though all 59 dogs were healthy and friendly, three were put down as ''aggressive'' — (Excuse me but wouldn't you get angry and scared if fifty pairs of feet and helmets charged in?), and we've heard that a further 19 dogs have been put down.
They closed down the kennels and removed all the dogs. Staff were forbidden from entering the kennels until all dogs had gone. So all these dogs had been left in their own mess for 24 hours in total, as the raid began at 9am and ended at 9pm. I spoke to people at my local rescue yesterday and they had visited Rosedene many times and said the dogs were in good condition and were walked and played with every day. The place itself is a bit rundown due to lack of funding. Once again Britains richest charity would rather prosecute than help.
The latest 'easy target' is Rosedene Rescue which was raided on 21st January 2010 The RSPCA put 3 healthy dogs down on site and took another 56 and will not give any answers about where the 56 dogs are now. Some of them had homes waiting and others were due to move to other rescues….but rumours are that the RSPCA have PTS a further 10 dogs. The RSPCA will not comment on this……The rescue has not been closed or 'charged' but more headlines and more donations? The RSPCA arrived with 50 officers and police in the morning as volunteers and staff were about to clean the kennels or in some cases had started but not replaced fresh bedding. The staff were not allowed to continue cleaning, walk them or give the dogs water all day long and then the RSPCA took photos of the kennels uncleaned – the dogs were stressed and staff were not allowed to comfort them or help load them into RSPCA vehicles. One of the 3 dogs slaughtered at the scene by the RSPCA had been at the kennels some considerable time and was healthy and well adjusted as were the other 2 which has been proved by many photos of staff walking them etc They just happened to be a Staffie and 2 Rottweilers who were probably, like the staff and other dogs alike petrified by all these starngers invading their space and 'their humans' giving off their scared body language and smells too no doubt. If The Tory party put taking these powers away from the RSPCA in their manifesto, they would get my vote….
PLEASE DO SOMETHING BEFORE ANY MORE ANIMALS DIE NEEDLESSLY!
I really feel strongly that the RSPCA should be stripped of its power to prosecute, the vast majority of RSPCA prosecutions involve the mentally ill, the disabled and pensioners the oldest of whom was in his nineties. The recent raid on Rosedene Kennels in the West Midlands where kennel staff were prevented from carrying out their morning cleaning duties only to have RSPCA inspectors film the unclean kennels is a direct falsification of the evidence – I am sure this would never happen if all cases were refered to the CPS as has happened in Scotland. I would be interested to know if a Tory government would order a review with a view to removing the RSPCAs power to prosecute.
The Animal Justice Campaign is dedicated to getting the Law changed;
To ban the Captive Bolt Gun for use on cats and dogs. (The RSPCA are the only people who do this now).
To stop the RSPCA killing in ANY form, it should only be done by a qualified Vet.
To remove from the RSPCA the right to prosecute, and hand all cases to the CPS.
To put the RSPCA on a level playing field with all other animal charities, so that farces like Rosedene do not happen again. The idea that one charity can bully and threaten another is ridiculous and dangerous, because there is a conflict of interest. The RSPCA seems to think that the more Rescues it closes, the more funds will divert to them and the more power they will gain. THEY MUST BE STOPPED FROM ACHIEVING THEIR ULTIMATE AIM- to control ALL animal ownership in England and Wales.
